The earth says hello

Part of a series of paintings documenting the walks around my home in the South Downs.

The footpath up to Brinksole between Petworth and Low Heath in West Sussex. We had a few hot days in 2025, now sadly more intense and worrying, and dog walks have to happen early on days like this. The morning starshine made the trees and hedges glow, the creatures that haunt the path in the night have run to ground. The dog senses the trails and traces left by the night.
