And still the light grew

Part of a series of paintings documenting the walks around my home in the South Downs.

The old main road, now a sunken lane between Brinksole and Low Heath in West Sussex. What was once a busy road filled with carts and horses is now a beautiful hollow lane frequented by walkers and the occasional horse rider. 

The place feels haunted but at the same time like a fairy tale illustration. The light changes from yellow to orange to green to turquoise as you walk.
